Dhayanidhi Alagiri and his Cloud Nine’s first ever production Thoonga Nagaram has been cleared by the Regional Censor Board in Chennai, with a clean  ‘U’ certificate. The film is likely to release on January 28 worldwide. Thoonga Nagaram is written and directed by debutant Gaurav a former associate of  K.S Ravikumar.

The film is set in Madurai which is known as Thoonga Nagaram or the city that never sleeps. Madurai MP and Union Fertilizer Minister MK Alagiri, Dhayanidhi’s dad is said to have made a cameo appearance in the film. Thoonga Nagaram is a gangster film starring actors who made an impression in their debut  films Vimal (Pasanga), Bharani (Naadodigal)  Nishanth (Renigunta) and  Anjali (Tamil Padam) in the lead roles. The film has some lilting music by Sundar C Babu.

The Story : Illeyngan is a period film that narrates the story of a mother and son. Kalaignar Karunanidhi has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for this film directed by Suresh Krishna (of Annamalai, Basha, Veera fame). Interestingly, Illeyngan is Suresh Krishna's 50th directorial venture. Camera is handled by B.L. Sanjay while Vidyasagar will compose the music.
