Jagan Gets Huge Majority in Kadapa

It is now official. YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has won the by-elections to Kadapa Lok Sabha seat by securing a majority of 5,43,053 votes.

It is the second biggest margin of victory in any Lok Sabha election in the state and the third in the country.

The previous biggest majority in the country was that of CPI-M candidate Ananya Basu in Kolkata who had secured a majority of 5.90 lakh votes. In the state, the biggest-ever majority achieved so far was by former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao in Nandyal in 1991, when he defeated Bangaru Lakshman of BJP with a margin of 5,80,035 votes.

All said and done, it is a great achievement for Jagan to such a huge majority in a triangular contest, with both the Congress as well as the TDP putting up a big fight by fielding senior candidates. His his rivals may make any comment, but the majority has proved that it is the YSR family and not the Congress that rules the roost in Kadapa district.

Both Congress candidate DL Ravindra Reddy and Telugu Desam Party candidate MV Mysoora Reddy have lost their deposits.
